Get your baskets ready and your sundress wish-list prepped—because it’s official. After months of whispered rumours, and “maybe” signs, Peacocks has confirmed that it will reopen its doors in Tonbridge on Wednesday 26th June.
Yes, really. You may now commence your celebratory sock shopping.
If you read our earlier post back in May (“Peacocks is (Probably) Coming Back to Tonbridge – Tights at the Ready!”), you’ll remember we were cautiously optimistic. We spotted the job adverts. We had heard the rumours. We dared to believe. But now? There’s a sign in the window and everything. “Tonbridge, we are back,” it declares—loud and proud, in bold lettering, like a returning pop star announcing a greatest hits tour.
Speaking of comebacks, the timing couldn’t be more poetic. Just as the iconic Louise Redknapp poster finally disappeared from the shop window—along with its infamous googly eyes—she’s releasing a brand new album. A curtain call of sorts. Coincidence? Perhaps. But in our hearts, we’ll always link the reopening of Peacocks with the return of Louise to the charts. Both long-awaited. Both entirely welcome.
It’s been a tough time on the high street. The absence of emergency leggings and reasonably priced Christmas pyjamas left a hole in our hearts—and our drawers. But soon, we’ll once again be able to grab a £6 sweatshirt with a floral motif and a multipack of tights in a single outing.
The shop is still in the same spot, though let’s hope a little spruced up —and finally free of the defaced display that held court far longer than anyone intended. Replaced with a much improved poster of Louise.

So, pop 26th June in your diary. Let’s welcome Peacocks back the Tonbridge way: with enthusiasm, a strong coffee in hand, and a firm grip on our baskets. See you in the swim wear aisle.
