The Tonbridge Civic Society is preparing to celebrate the best of the town’s architecture and community efforts, having announced the categories for its 2025 Design Awards.
In a change from previous years, the schedule for the awards has been adjusted. The Society is seeking nominations for the upcoming cycle by the end of this year, with a deadline set for December 31, 2025. Following the selection process, the awards are scheduled to be presented at the Society’s Annual General Meeting on the evening of May 26, 2026.
Award Categories
The Society is looking to recognize excellence across three specific categories this year, ranging from major building projects to smaller street-level improvements.
Design Award This category focuses on major construction or renovation projects. The award recognizes buildings that, through their quality and design, contribute aesthetically to the pleasure and amenity of the local area. Commendations will also be given to projects deserving of recognition based on these criteria.
Community Award This award highlights work by an individual or a group of people that significantly contributes to the pleasure and amenity of the area. This category is open to both permanent and temporary works.
Street Scene Award This category is dedicated to work that permanently enhances the character of an area. The scope for this award is broad, including landscaping and planting, boundary walls, shop front renovations, the restoration of historic features, or improvements to street furniture.
