Penshurst is preparing to host a brand new highlight on the local cultural calendar, with the inaugural Penshurst Music Festival arriving on October 16th and 17th.
Bringing together virtuosic guest performers from London alongside an abundance of home-grown musical talent, the two-day festival promises an eclectic lineup designed to appeal to all ages. All proceeds from the weekend will go directly toward supporting children’s music provision across the local area.
Having welcomed numerous rising classical stars to the village church for individual recitals in recent years, this autumn’s festival expands that vision into a full weekend celebration. Organisers have curated a programme ranging from early choral harmony and classical wind ensembles to interactive family shows and world-class organ performances.
Friday Night Showcase
The festival opens on Friday evening at 7:30 pm with a musical champagne reception. Guests will be entertained by the New Eden Consort, an acclaimed vocal quartet who will present A Capella Through the Ages. The evening features rising vocal star Grace Oliver, setting a refined tone for the weekend.
Saturday Highlights: From Wine Tasting to World-Class Organists
Saturday’s schedule begins at 11:00 am with an intimate interview featuring world-renowned organist D’Arcy Trinkwon, hosted by Deborah Lawrenson.
At midday, the festivities move to the Village Hall for a unique Sonic Wine Tasting Competition and Lunch. Guests will enjoy a light lunch while listening to live duo performances, using musical clues embedded in the pieces to guess the country of origin for each wine.
The afternoon focuses on younger audiences and families. At 3:00 pm, a live musical ensemble will perform Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, alongside a selection of animal-themed pieces. The performance is expected to feature a choir from Penshurst Primary School.
The festival concludes on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm with a grand finale concert, bringing together soprano Grace Oliver, the Penshurst Choral Society, and D’Arcy Trinkwon.

Tickets are available in advance online via TicketSource. While entry will be available on the door for most events, spaces for the Saturday lunchtime wine tasting are strictly limited to 35 places and must be booked in advance.
