Tonbridge Rotary Christmas Festival 2026: Save the Date for the Town’s Most Magical Day of the Year!

Christmas is coming to Tonbridge – and one of the town’s most beloved festive traditions is set to return on Sunday 29th November 2026.

Mark your calendars, Tonbridge! The Tonbridge Christmas Light Switch-On is scheduled to take place on Sunday 29th November 2026, bringing festive cheer, sparkling lights and the promise of another magical day in the town centre.

Organised by Tonbridge Rotary Club, the much-loved Tonbridge Christmas Festival is a firm favourite in the local calendar, attracting families, shoppers and visitors keen to kick-start the festive season in style.

Although full details for this year’s event have yet to be announced, previous festivals have offered plenty of reasons to wrap up warm and head into town.

One day when Tonbridge High Street belongs to pedestrians

One of the biggest attractions is the transformation of Tonbridge High Street, which is traditionally closed to traffic for the afternoon, making way for a bustling festive celebration.

It is the only time each year that the High Street is pedestrianised for the occasion, creating a unique opportunity to explore the town without the usual traffic.

Visitors can normally expect a lively Christmas market atmosphere, with food stalls, gift stalls and tempting festive treats. From browsing local crafts to enjoying a warming seasonal drink, the festival offers an opportunity to support local traders while soaking up the Christmas spirit.

Fireworks, festive fun and maybe a visit from Santa?

Previous years have seen the festival pull out all the stops, with entertainment for visitors of all ages.

Last year’s celebrations included a Santa parade and the chance to get up close to real reindeer, while the evening fireworks display brought crowds together for a spectacular finale near Tonbridge Castle.

Whether this year’s programme will feature the same attractions remains to be confirmed. The full schedule, entertainment line-up and stallholder information are still to be announced, so visitors should keep an eye out for further updates.

For many residents, the Christmas Festival is more than just a light switch-on. It is an opportunity to meet friends, enjoy the town centre, support local businesses and share in the excitement as Christmas gets underway.

With the High Street transformed into a festive marketplace and the prospect of seasonal entertainment throughout the day, it is an event that brings the community together year after year.

So, if you’re already looking forward to Christmas, make sure Sunday 29th November 2026 is firmly in your diary.
