TONBRIDGE — Members of the Tonbridge Lions recently attended the annual Harvest Festival Service at St Saviour’s Church, celebrating a community effort that resulted in significant food donations for local families facing hardship.
Community Comes Together at St Saviour’s Church
On Wednesday, 14 October, Tonbridge Lions Vice-President Tom Simmons, accompanied by his wife Vanessa and fellow Lion Trevor Dalladay, joined pupils, staff, and families of Hilden Oaks School for their Harvest Festival Service.
During the service, Hilden Oaks pupils gathered a substantial collection of non-perishable food items brought in by the school community as part of their annual harvest giving traditions.
Direct Support for FEAST Food Bank
Following the service, Tonbridge Lions members took action to deliver the donations directly to where they were needed most. The team transported the collected food items to the FEAST Food Bank at the local Methodist Church.
The donations were gratefully received by the food bank team and will be distributed directly to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship across the local Tonbridge community.
A Message of Thanks and Continued Support
Reflecting on the success of the event, Lion Vice-President Tom Simmons expressed warm gratitude for the school’s effort:
“Tonbridge Lions would like to thank everyone at Hilden Oaks School for making us so welcome and for their generosity in supporting this worthy cause. The commitment shown by the pupils, staff and families will make a real difference to people in need within our community.”
Tonbridge Lions remain dedicated to supporting grassroots local initiatives that bring community members together while offering practical, hands-on help to those navigating difficult circumstances.
