As the 2024 football season draws to a close, Tonbridge Angels FC are looking beyond the pitch with the announcement of an exciting new chapter: the launch of the Tonbridge Angels Foundation.

The newly formed charitable arm aims to strengthen the club’s role at the heart of the local community, building on the success of its previous Angels in the Community programme. Through the Foundation, the club plans to promote grassroots football, support health and wellbeing initiatives, tackle social isolation, and create more opportunities for young people in and around Tonbridge.

John Garwood, Chairman of the new Foundation, said:

“Our club has always been more than just football – it’s a community hub, a place where people come together. The Tonbridge Angels Foundation will allow us to deepen our commitment to the town and the people who support us week in, week out. We’re excited about the potential this has to make a real difference.”

Sophie Purves, Chair of Tonbridge Angels FC, added:

“The creation of the Tonbridge Angels Foundation is an extremely beneficial step forward in our pursuit of using the positive power of football to help and support our local community. Our charity will work closely with the club to deliver exciting and rewarding projects that can make a genuine difference to people’s lives.”

A Broader Role for the Club

The Foundation plans to collaborate with local schools, charities and community groups to deliver a wide range of programmes, from youth engagement initiatives and mental health awareness campaigns to educational support and outreach to vulnerable groups.

Coming off a season where Tonbridge Angels saw both challenges and triumphs on the pitch — and with fan support as strong as ever — the launch of the Foundation marks a natural next step for a club that sees itself firmly rooted in the town’s wider life.
