I was recently searching for a local running club and was staggered to find out just how many there are in Tonbridge.
Tonbridge is fast becoming a hub for runners of all abilities, with a variety of clubs offering everything from social jogs to structured training sessions. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just starting out, there’s a community waiting to welcome you.
Even better, many of these running clubs are either free or low cost. So there are no excuses!
Scrambled Leggs: Social and improvers
Scrambled Leggs is a running group lead by coach Sarah Cronin and is a popular community group, especially with runners who are looking to improve their pace or technique. But there’s also a lovely social element to the group too.
Here are the meet ups:
- Monday Intervals at Longmead Sports Ground: Join at 7pm for varied interval sessions designed to boost fitness and confidence.
- Fuggles Social 5K: Every second Wednesday of the month at 7pm, meet at Fuggles Beer Café for a friendly 5K run, followed by a free half pint and 25% off food.
You can find more info about Scrambled Leggs on the Tonbridge Run Together website.
Longmead Runners (LMR): Community at Its Core
Formed during lockdown, LMR has grown into a supportive group of over 40 runners. Meeting twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm) in North Tonbridge, they offer:
- Interval Runs: 5K and 7K sessions for those looking to improve speed.
- Social Runs: Up to 10K routes with a focus on camaraderie and mutual support.
LMR prides itself on being free to join, with the only requirement being a commitment to the group’s ethos of encouragement and inclusivity. Remember, it’s a group not a club! Find out more info about the group here.
3 Mile Smile: Gentle Jogging for All
If you’re looking for a relaxed, no-pressure environment, 3 Mile Smile is perfect. Meeting weekly at Tonbridge Swimming Pool, this group offers:
- Gentle 5K Runs: With plenty of walk breaks and a focus on staying together, it’s ideal for beginners or those returning to running.
All sessions are free, emphasizing community and wellbeing over pace and performance.
I couldn’t find any current events listed for this group – so it’s possible they are taking a break. Updates should be posted to this website – follow if you’re interested.
Beginners2Runners (B2R): Structured Support for New Runners
B2R Tonbridge offers a structured program for those new to running or looking to improve. Meeting at Cage Green Primary School on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:30pm, they provide:
- 0-5K Beginner Groups: Fun, friendly run/walk sessions to build confidence and fitness.
- Regular Runs: For those already comfortable with 5K or more, offering longer distances and continued support.
Although this is not a free club, it is inexpensive. More details about sessions and joining the club can be found here.
Here Come the Girls: Empowering Women Through Running
This volunteer-led group focuses on creating a supportive environment for women. Meeting at Tonbridge Swimming Pool, they offer:
- Monday Walk & Talk (9:30am): A 5K walk emphasizing social connection and mental wellness.
- Wednesday Run & Talk (9:30am): A structured 0-5K beginner run to encourage women to start or return to running.
So, whatever your pace, whether you want to walk or run, you can join this group. Find more details and sign up to events here.

ParkRun
And whilst it is not a “club” as such, it would be remiss of us not to plug ParkRun Tonbridge, a weekly 5km event held in the park. Saturdays at 09:00.
