A new contender is joining Tonbridge’s ever-growing pizza scene. The Real Pizza Company, a fresh-faced pizzeria promising authentic wood-fired slices made with top-quality ingredients, is preparing to open its doors in the south end of the High Street — likely in the unit formerly home to the picture framing shop, close to the Tonbridge Police Station.

While the exact opening date and final location are yet to be officially confirmed, the news has already begun to stir excitement among local food lovers. With a menu expected to lean into traditional Neapolitan-style pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven, Real Pizza aims to bring something both familiar and elevated to the town’s dining scene. Prices are expected to range between £14 and £18 per pizza — a reflection of the quality ingredients and artisanal preparation behind each order.

Tonbridge is no stranger to pizza, boasting a surprising number of established spots already. From the ever-reliable Domino’s to the more upmarket Pizza Express nestled beside Tonbridge Castle, options abound. Rocco’s Pizza, at the northern end of the high street another local favourite, has also carved out its loyal customer base with hearty offerings and friendly service.

However, what sets Real Pizza apart is its apparent alignment with the style of Pizza Olivias, located just up the road. Like Olivias, Real Pizza plans to focus on authentic preparation methods, using fresh dough, quality mozzarella, and carefully sourced toppings baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. If early signs are anything to go by, this isn’t your average takeaway — it’s pizza crafted with intention.

The potential location — the former picture framing shop — is a prime spot. Situated near the police station and within walking distance from local shops and cafes, it’s ideally placed to catch both lunchtime foot traffic and the evening crowd. The unit has sat empty for some time, and its conversion into a food outlet could inject new life into this quieter stretch of the High Street.

There’s no denying that Tonbridge is becoming something of a pizza hotspot. For a town of its size, the sheer number of pizzerias is notable. Yet, each has found its niche — and Real Pizza seems set to carve out its own with a focus on authenticity and quality, rather than speed and mass production.

While some may question whether another pizza place is necessary, many locals would argue there’s always room for one more — especially if it brings something different to the table. With the rise in demand for artisanal food experiences and a growing appreciation for high-quality ingredients, Real Pizza may well hit the sweet spot for Tonbridge’s pizza aficionados.

Though we await confirmation on the final details, one thing’s for sure: the arrival of Real Pizza adds a welcome new flavour to Tonbridge’s culinary mix. We’re excited to see this independent business take root in the town and wish it every success in the months ahead.

Tonbridge, save some room — there’s a new slice in town.
