You might spot them as you wander the trails: bright, bold wooden photo frames, artfully positioned to capture the very best views of the park. These joyful creations aren’t just decorations—they’re part of a unique community collaboration that’s turned a beloved green space into a living, breathing outdoor gallery.
The idea first came to life during Tonbridge School’s annual Giving Day, when students swapped classroom time for community projects. During their visit to Haysden, a group of students dreamt up the concept of framing the natural beauty of the park—literally. It’s the kind of simple yet brilliant idea that makes you wonder why it hasn’t been done before.
From there, the vision was brought to life by a dedicated team including the school, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s creative staff, and, crucially, the ever-enthusiastic Haysden Country Park Volunteers. Under the guidance of Park Ranger Jane Brazier, the volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work—painting, building, and carefully placing each frame to highlight some of the park’s most scenic spots.

They’re also a gentle reminder of the power of community spirit—of what can happen when schools, councils, and volunteers come together with a shared vision.
Haysden Country Park, already a proud recipient of the Green Flag Award, now has a splash of colour to match its vibrant community. The gallery frames are part of Love Parks Week, a national celebration of green spaces, and they’re already proving a hit with local walkers and visitors alike.
