Motorists in South Tonbridge face significant nightly diversions as Priory Road is now subject to closures from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily, effective immediately and continuing until September 22nd, 2025. These essential works are being carried out on the railway bridge, a crucial piece of infrastructure serving the area.
The extensive maintenance on the Priory Road railway bridge joins a growing list of significant roadworks and infrastructure upgrades currently underway or recently completed in Tonbridge. Residents have already seen considerable activity on routes such as Shipbourne Road and Lyons Crescent, indicating a concerted effort to improve and maintain the town’s vital transport networks.
While the closures on Priory Road are likely to cause some disruption for evening and early morning commuters, these works are critical for ensuring the long-term safety and efficiency of both road and rail transport in Tonbridge. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing for extra travel time and utilising diversion routes that will be signposted in the area.
The Tonbridge Bean will continue to provide updates on these important infrastructure projects, encouraging patience and understanding from residents as these necessary improvements are carried out for the benefit of the entire community.
