The annual Run Kent Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K road races saw a record-breaking number of participants on Sunday, 5th October, with over 1,700 runners crossing the finish line in Tonbridge.

Runners enjoyed ideal conditions—a breezy but dry autumn morning—as they tackled the scenic course that stretched from south Tonbridge out towards Leigh.

A Community-Powered Success

Now in its fourteenth year, the Run Kent event remains a popular fixture for runners of all ages and abilities, from 5K first-timers to seasoned athletes competing in the half marathon challenge.

The day was organized by RunThrough with the essential support of the local Tonbridge Lions and Rotary Clubs. This collaborative effort not only brought the community together but also succeeded in raising thousands of pounds for local charities.

Showcasing some of Kent’s most picturesque countryside, the event relied heavily on local goodwill:

  • Over 70 volunteers lined the route to ensure safety and cheer on every participant.
  • Local residents turned out in large numbers to lend their voices to the chorus of encouragement.

A spokesperson for Run Kent expressed delight at the turnout, stating, “We’re delighted to see a record turnout this year and are grateful to everyone who made it possible, especially our volunteers and partner organisations who brought energy and encouragement every step of the way”.

Organisers also extended their gratitude to sponsors, local partners, and the entire Kent community for ensuring the day was such a great success.

Planning is already underway for the 2026 event, which promises to be “even bigger and better”.
