Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council (TMBC) is asking residents for their views on renewing the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), which helps tackle anti-social behaviour across the borough.

The current PSPO, which includes rules such as no-alcohol zones, limits on dog walking (a maximum of six dogs per person), and requirements to keep dogs on leads in certain areas, is due to expire in April 2026. TMBC is proposing to renew the existing restrictions while adding a few new measures.

The proposed additions include a new restriction to prevent the misuse of catapults, a ban on unauthorised camping in Tonbridge Memorial Gardens, and a slight amendment to the drone restriction to make it clear that unauthorised drones cannot be launched or landed on any Borough Council–owned land.

The council says the changes are designed to strengthen community safety, through protecting local spaces like Haysden Country Park, Tonbridge Memorial Gardens, and Tonbridge Cemetery.

Residents are encouraged to share their views by completing the short online consultation, which is open until midnight on Sunday 2 November. The survey, available on the TMBC website, takes around 10 minutes to complete and includes questions on existing PSPO rules and space for residents to suggest any additional measures.

Feedback from the consultation will be reviewed by council members before a final decision is made on the renewed PSPO.

You can find the consultation and full details of the current restrictions on the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council website.
