The Hospice in the Weald children’s shop has closed its doors for a scheduled refurbishment. While signs in the windows confirm the closure, the charity has not yet specified a firm date for when it will welcome shoppers back.

Located just a short walk from Tonbridge railway station, this specific branch is uniquely dedicated to younger residents. While the charity’s much larger Superstore across the High Street carries furniture and adult fashion, the Avebury Avenue shop has carved out a niche as a specialist “Toy Shop” boutique.

A Specialist Hub for Families

The shop’s temporary absence is already being noted by local parents and carers. For many, it is the first port of call for:

  • Pre-loved Toys and Games: From board games and puzzles to action figures and dolls.
  • Children’s Fashion: An affordable way to keep up with fast-growing toddlers and school-age children.
  • Early Years Essentials: Books, soft toys, and nursery items that promote sustainable shopping.

Investing in the Local High Street

The refurbishment comes at a time when Hospice in the Weald is modernising its retail presence across West Kent. Recent upgrades to other branches have resulted in brighter, more accessible layouts, suggesting that the shop will return with a refreshed look designed to better showcase its colourful inventory.

Proceeds from the shop remain vital to the charity’s mission, helping to fund palliative care for adults and children throughout the region.
