Musical talent was on full display as the Tonbridge Lions Club hosted its annual Junior Schools Choir Concert. The event, held on the evening of 11th March at the Tonbridge Baptist Church, brought together young vocalists from across the area for a celebration of harmony and community spirit.
Six primary schools participated in the showcase, including Slade, Stocks Green, Woodlands, Bishop Chavasse, Royal Rise, and St Margaret Clitherow. Each choir performed two pieces of their own choosing, offering the audience a diverse range of musical styles and arrangements.
A grand finale for 180 performers
The concert featured approximately 180 children, who performed to an appreciative audience of around 400 family members and local supporters. The evening reached a powerful conclusion with a combined finale, where all six choirs joined together for a final, uplifting performance that filled the church.
The proceedings were led by Lion James Lark, who guided the evening’s programme. Following the musical sets, Tonbridge Lions Club President Phil Jesson took to the stage to present certificates to each participating school, recognising the hard work and dedication of the young performers.
Supporting the future of school music
In addition to celebrating the children’s achievements on the night, the Tonbridge Lions Club has confirmed it will be making donations to each of the participating schools. These funds are intended to support the ongoing development of music programmes within the local education system, ensuring that creative opportunities remain available for future students.
