The Verdi Gris building on the High Street has been put up for sale. The three-storey property, positioned at the junction with Medway Wharf Road, has entered the market via Bracketts estate agents without a publicly disclosed asking price.
Crucially for the local community, the sale will not impact the operation of its ground-floor commercial occupant. The popular all-day venue Verdigris holds a secure lease on the premises until 2033, meaning the favourite town centre hangout spot is remaining exactly where it is.

A Prime Riverside Location
The building occupies what is widely regarded as one of the most visible and desirable trading locations in Tonbridge, directly overlooking the River Medway and Tonbridge Castle.

Inside the Investment Portfolio
The building itself is structured as a well-balanced, three-storey investment opportunity that pairs commercial stability with independent residential spaces.
- Commercial Hub: The ground floor and basement house Verdigris, a highly successful restaurant, wine, and cocktail bar featuring an attractive outdoor terrace overlooking the river. The business operates under a lease protected by the Security of Tenure provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, generating a current passing rent of £40,000 per annum.
- Residential Units: The upper levels comprise three independent, self-contained two-bedroom residential flats. Each flat is accessed via its own ground-level entrance, providing a reliable and complementary secondary income stream in the heart of the town centre.

The Evolution of a High Street Favourite
Verdigris first opened its doors to the public in September 2018, initially launching its cocktail bar before opening its full kitchen in December of the same year. Founded by chef-patron Scott Goss, the venue quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the local independent dining scene.
Long-term residents will remember that the building has undergone significant transformations over the years. Immediately prior to the arrival of Verdigris, the premises operated as the Graze bar and restaurant. Going back further into local history, the site was known to generations of Tonbridge residents as The Castle public house.
Alongside the news of the building sale, Verdigris continues to run its regular culinary events for local diners. From 17th February, the venue runs a weekly Tuesday dining promotion. Guests can order the sharing rib of beef which comes accompanied by a complimentary bottle of Septima Malbec wine.
