Tonbridge locals who have been eyeing the vacant unit a few doors down from Pizza Express finally have their answer: a new barber shop named Roma is set to open its doors very soon.
The Evolution of the Space
The High Street location has seen quite a transformation recently:
- The Original Unit: Formerly a large, popular cake shop.
- The First Half: Divided and converted into Tonbridge Premier.
- The Remaining Half: Left vacant for six months, sparking local curiosity about what would fill the space.
Roma Barbers: Setting the Scene
At first glance, the name “Roma” might lead passersby to expect another Italian eatery joining Pizza Express down the road. However, a quick look at the new signage above the door clears up any confusion—featuring a prominent pair of barbering scissors, the shop’s true purpose is unmistakable.
While the shop isn’t officially open yet, the finished signage and storefront work suggest the launch is right around the corner.

The Tonbridge Barber Landscape
It’s no secret that Tonbridge has a healthy number of barber shops scattered throughout the town. However, at this specific stretch of the High Street, choices have been relatively limited, with A&S Barbers and Dapper Dan’s being the primary options nearby.
The addition of Roma brings a fresh choice for residents looking for a trim at this end of town. Time will tell how Roma carves out its own loyal customer base in the local community.
