Tonbridge High Street has welcomed a new addition to its local coffee scene as Dolley’s Dreams opened this week.

The new coffee shop takes over a prominent town center premises with a rich recent history in local trade. Most recently operating as The Maid of Kent, the unit previously housed Gorgeous George. While it remains unclear whether Dolley’s Dreams shares ownership with its predecessors, the fresh signage and upcoming launch mark a distinct new direction for the site.

The debut of Dolley’s Dreams comes at a time of notable momentum for this stretch of the High Street. It follows closely on the heels of the recent refurbishment of the neighboring Humphrey Bean, the local Wetherspoon pub that underwent significant upgrades.

Further change is also on the horizon right next door. The former Poundland site, which currently sits vacant, is expected to be redeveloped and subdivided into five separate retail units. Once complete, the split site is anticipated to bring a variety of new independent or chain businesses to the strip, boosting foot traffic and adding to the ongoing revitalization of Tonbridge town center.
