Tonbridge, the wait is over. Peacocks is back—and if you wandered down the high street this morning, you’ll know that the excitement was very real.
I swung by within the first 30 minutes of trading (yes, I’m that committed), and there were already queues at the tills and that buzz in the air usually reserved for Taylor Swift tickets or the first day of the school uniform sale. The manager was working the room with a warm, heartfelt, “Welcome back, it’s been a long time coming,” and honestly? I felt emotional. Possibly the fumes of nostalgia. Possibly the asbestos-free air. Who’s to say.

Inside, the store looks gloriously familiar. I had no trouble navigating straight to the back—ladies’ knickers behind the shoes and accessories, as tradition dictates. Menswear to the left, bursting at the seams with pants and socks (the official stocking fillers for the modern man). Kids’ section tucked in the back left corner, and womenswear front and centre.

If you were among the first 10 through the door this morning, congratulations—you snagged a £50 voucher. I just missed out, arriving to find at least 40 people already inside. Never mind. Every shopper this week gets a 20% off voucher when you spend £30, which led me into the great mathematical conundrum of our time: if cream wide-legged trousers are £22 and I want the discount, what else do I need? Girl math tells me that spending more to save more is basically saving. Right?

As for the clothes? A solid showing. Think boho touches for summer, some strong tailoring for those of us attempting to look like we have our lives together, chic trousers, and the usual staples. Honestly, it’s just good to have the old faithful back. The shop you pop into for a “quick look” and emerge from with a cardigan, slippers, and two bras you weren’t planning on.
Peacocks in Tonbridge is officially open—and it’s like they never left. Only now, you can breathe easy and shop freely. Welcome home.
