Spring has officially sprung, and with Easter Sunday landing on April 5th this year, the school holidays (3rd April to 19th April for most) are looking packed. Whether you’re looking to burn off the inevitable chocolate-induced energy or just want a peaceful walk with a scavenger hunt to keep the kids moving, Tonbridge and its neighbours have stepped up.
From dragons at Hever to theatre, here is your curated guide to the best things going on over the Easter break.
The “Big Three” National Trust Trails

The National Trust Easter trails are a family favourite and run from the 21st March to 19th April this year. For £3.50 (plus normal admission), kids get a map, bunny ears, and a chocolate egg.
Ightham Mote: A classic choice. The trail weaves through the ancient gardens and around the moat. It’s perfect for smaller legs that can’t manage a massive trek.
Knole: Head to Sevenoaks for a trail that includes a ‘Gatehouse Tower Maze’ and the beautiful parkland of Knole.
Chartwell: This year’s theme is “What came first, the chicken or the egg?”—a fun, interactive way to explore Churchill’s old stomping ground. On the 9th April, there’s also another Easter themed event, a kids movement and yoga session with the author of “Every bunny is a Yoga Bunny”.
You can find our guide to the best National Trust properties locally here.
Legends & Bonnets: Hever & Penshurst
If you want something a bit more “theatrical,” these nearby castles are going all out:
Hever Castle (The Great Dragon Egg Hunt): Running March 28 – April 19. Kids hunt for dragon eggs hidden in the gardens. Tip: Visit over the Easter Bank Holiday (April 3–6) to actually meet Inferno the Dragon in the castle forecourt. The Egg Hunt is included in the usual admission ticket.
Penshurst Place (The Big Bonnet Bonanza): Help the Easter Bunny find missing bonnet decorations hidden across the grounds. You can also find Easter crafts between the 28th March and 19th April.
The Local “Staycation” (Right here in Tonbridge)

You don’t need to leave the postcode to find the fun:
Tonbridge Park Easter Trail: A firm favourite and totally free. Three self-led Easter Trails are taking place in our local parks this year, from 2nd to 19 April 2026. Full details can be found here.
Paddle Boarding Easter Holiday Camps: If you’re kids are water mad, you can enrol them in one of the local kids paddle clubs on the river. The team at Epic Life are running a holiday camp on Easter Monday from 09:00 to 12:00, as well as an afterschool club starting on the 20th April. Whilst, Paddle with Ana is running two three day children’s Easter Holiday Camps this year for children ages 8 and above. Kids can join one, two or three days.
tmactive Holiday Fun: Tonbridge Pool is the place for intensive swimming courses this Easter holiday. And Play n’Grow are hosting a Holiday Club too.
Tonbridge Angels Home Game: Tonbridge Angels are playing at home against Ebbsfleet on the 3rd April (Good Friday). Even if you’re not usually a football fan, this could be a fun day out for the family.
Tonbridge Farmers Market: Free to visit and always a lovely morning out. You can find April’s Farmers Market on the 12th April from 09:30 to 13:30 on Sovereign Way.
Tonbridge River Trips: Boats will be back on the river from the end of March – just in time for the Easter holidays. Book a weekend boat tour to see Tonbridge in a different light.
St George’s Day Parade: This is an annual event showcasing the bands from local scout and guide groups. You can see it on the High Street between 11:00 and 12:00 on the 19th April.
Theatre & On-Stage Magic
If the April showers decide to show up, head indoors for some culture:
Hadestown: Teen Edition (April 9–11): Performed by the incredibly talented youth group The Talentz at the EMF Theatre. This is a “Teen Edition”. Tickets and details here.
Silly Billy’s Magic Emporium (April 4): An interactive magic show for one day only, held at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks. Details and tickets here.
Steam Trains & Special Guests
Spa Valley Railway (Tunbridge Wells): On Easter Sunday and Monday, Peter Rabbit™ will be making appearances at intervals at the station. Combine it with a steam train ride through the High Weald for a truly “classic” family day out. Full details here.
Leybourne Lakes Easter Trail (April 10): A great one for a crisp morning walk. Follow the themed clues around the lake between 10:00 and 12:30. Full details here.
The Grand Finale: Lambing Weekend (April 25–26)

Okay, it’s technically just after the holidays, but no Tonbridge April list is complete without the Hadlow College Lambing Weekend. It is the ultimate local spring event. You can see newborn lambs, take tractor rides, and meet the various animals on the farm. It’s busy, it’s muddy, and it’s wonderful. If you can’t make Hadlow, there are a number of other lambing events on other weekends – full details here.
