The must-visit headline event

Hadlow College Lambing Weekend (25–26 April 2026)

If you only choose one event this spring, this may be the best one to book.

Just outside Tonbridge, Hadlow College hosts one of the largest lambing weekends in the South East, attracting visitors from across Kent each year.

There is far more here than just lambs:

  • Opportunities to meet newborn lambs up close
  • Tractor and trailer rides
  • The Sheep Show
  • Birds of prey displays
  • Craft stalls and food vendors

It feels more like a countryside festival than a simple farm visit, which makes it especially good for families.

The 2026 event runs from 11am to 4pm on both days, with tickets required in advance.

Best for: families and first-time visitors
Atmosphere: lively and busy

Real working farm experiences

Four Winds Farm Lambing Weekend (18–19 April 2026)

Just outside Tonbridge, Four Winds Farm offers a more traditional working farm setting.

This is a good option if you prefer something quieter and more grounded in real farm life. Visitors can expect:

  • A genuine sheep farm environment
  • Close-up views of lambing activity
  • A calmer, less commercial experience

It is particularly popular with local families who return each year. Book your tickets here.

Best for: an authentic countryside visit
Atmosphere: relaxed and low-key

Ockley Barn Farm

Ockley Barn Farm in Hawkhurst is one of those places people tend to discover through recommendations.

Details vary each year, but it is known for:

  • Small-scale lambing experiences
  • Hands-on interaction with animals
  • A personal, family-run feel

Booking is often limited, so it is worth checking early in the season for availability. The first lambing weekend this year is taking place on the 28th and 29th March and tickets can be booked here.

Best for: a quieter, more personal visit
Atmosphere: informal and welcoming

When to visit

Timing makes a difference when planning a lambing visit.

  • March is the start of the season, when you are most likely to see newborn lambs
  • April is the peak period, with the widest range of events and activities

Across Kent, most lambing activity runs from March through to late April.
