April is when Tonbridge really comes into its own. The trees start to blossom, the evenings stretch out, and suddenly there’s something happening every weeknight as well as the weekends.
Easter brings a wave of family events, the vineyards reopen properly for the season, and we can all start to spend a little more time outdoors enjoying our wonderful green spaces and river.
Here’s your curated Tonbridge Bean guide to April – packed with detail so you can plan ahead (or just see what takes your fancy on the day).
1/ Easter Trails in the parks (2nd to 19th April 2026)
A firm favourite and completely free, the Tonbridge Park Easter Trails are back from 2nd to 19th April 2026, with three self-led trails running across local parks including Tonbridge Park and Haysden. These are perfect for younger children – simple clue-based routes that you can complete at your own pace, with plenty of space for scooters, picnics and post-trail playground time.
2/ Tonbridge Angels Home Games (3rd, 11th and 25th April 2026)
The Tonbridge Angels have several home fixtures as the season heads towards its conclusion. Notable home games this month include Friday 3rd April (versus Ebbsfleet), Saturday 11th April (versus Salisbury) and Saturday 25th April (versus Torquay.)
3/ Juddians Home Games (11th and 25th April)
If you’re a rugby fan, or just looking for something different in the community, head out to support Tonbridge Juddians playing at home. You can catch them at 15:00 on Saturday 11th and 25th April.
4/ Easter Holiday Activities – National Trust (21st March to 19th April)
National Trust Easter trails run from 21st March to 19th April at Chartwell, Knole and Ightam Mote. They’re always one of the most reliable options for a well-organised day out. For £3.50 per child (plus admission), kids receive a trail map, bunny ears and a chocolate egg at the end. The trails are structured but flexible, making them perfect for a couple of hours outdoors without too much planning.
5/ Epic life Social paddles begin
With lighter evenings and warmer temperatures, we can now take to the waters after work. There’s no better way to get involved than to join one of Epic Life’s social paddle sessions – these will be held on Wednesday evenings, normally at 18:30 from mid to late April.
6/ Hever Castle (28th March to 19th April)
Hever Castle hosts The Great Dragon Egg Hunt from 28th March to 19th April, where children search the gardens for hidden dragon eggs. The trail is included with standard admission, so you can easily spend the whole day exploring the grounds, playground and maze. If you visit over the Easter Bank Holiday (3rd–6th April), you’ll also be able to meet Inferno the Dragon in the forecourt – a big highlight for younger visitors.
7/ Penshurst Place (28th March to 19th April)
Penshurst Place runs its Big Bonnet Bonanza from 28th March to 19th April, where families help the Easter Bunny find missing bonnet decorations hidden around the grounds. Alongside the trail, there are also Easter craft activities running throughout the period, making it a nice mix of outdoor exploring and hands-on creativity. It’s a slightly calmer alternative to some of the bigger Easter events.
8/ Vineyard events (throughout April)
April is when local vineyards properly reopen for the season and lots of them have some lovely events.
At Mereworth Wines, expect Jazz Sunday brunches, spring flower workshops, and Late Night Fridays returning throughout the month. Yotes Court Vineyard hosts a complimentary new vintage tasting on 25th April (drop-in).
And at Balfour Winery, there’s a Bluebell Walk with Cream Tea and Bubbles on 22nd April, combining one of the best seasonal sights with a proper treat at the end.
9/ Walk Tonbridge Events (2nd and 25th April)
Walk Tonbridge have two standout walks this month. On 2nd April, the Sunset & Pink Moon Walk in Tudeley is timed with the full moon, making it one of their more unique events. Then on 25th April, the Bluebells & the Viaduct walk takes advantage of peak bluebell season, combining woodland and open countryside. These are guided, social walks and usually need booking in advance.
10/ Farmers Market (12th April)
Held on Sovereign Way from 09:30 to 13:30 on Saturday 12th April, the Tonbridge Farmers’ Market is one of those reliably good local mornings out. Expect a mix of fresh produce, baked goods, street food and coffee stalls, with a steady but relaxed atmosphere. It’s easy to pop down for half an hour and end up staying much longer.
11/ Great British Bakeoff (1st to 4th April)
At EM Forster Theatre, this runs from 1st to 4th April. Based on The Great British Bake Off, it’s a light, feel-good show full of familiar humour and plenty of charm. A great option if you want an easy, entertaining night out.
12/ Haddestown (9th to 11th April)
Also at EMF from 9th to 11th April, Hadestown (teen version) brings a more atmospheric, music-led production to Tonbridge.
13/ National Theatre Live: All my sons (23rd April)
Screening on 23rd April, this is a chance to see All My Sons via National Theatre Live. These screenings are always high quality and a great way to see major productions locally.
14/ Tonbridge Super Comedy Night (24th April)
On 24th April, EMF hosts its regular comedy night, bringing in a mix of touring comedians and newer acts. It’s a relaxed, easy night out and usually a good laugh without needing to travel into London. These events invariably sell out, so it’s best to snap up tickets as soon as you can.
15/ Fuggles Quiz Night (28th April)
At Fuggles Beer Cafe on 28th April, the monthly quiz night is one of the best in town. It’s competitive but friendly, with good beer and a lively atmosphere. Booking a table in advance is strongly recommended. If you miss it, check out other quiz’s in the area.
16/ Vault events at the Market House (throughout April)
The Market House continues its Thursday night and weekend events throughout April. The Vault downstairs regularly hosts DJs, themed nights, open mic nights and pop-up events. Look out for the DJ night on the 17th April and the Jam Session on the 23rd April. Or, if you prefer something more chilled – there’s a Gong Bath on the 26th April.
17/ St George’s Day Parade (19th April)
Taking place on 19th April from 11:00 to 12:00 along Tonbridge High Street, this annual parade celebrates St George’s Day. It showcases local scout and guide bands, with a strong community feel and plenty of people lining the streets to watch. It’s short, lively, and very traditional.
18/ Hadlow Lambing Weekend (25th and 26th April)
At Hadlow College, the Lambing Weekend is one of the standout spring events locally. Expect newborn lambs, tractor rides, animal encounters and plenty of muddy boots. It’s busy and chaotic in the best way. If you can’t make it, there are other lambing events across Kent throughout April.
19/ Easter Park Run (4th April)
Parkrun continues every Saturday at 9:00am, including over Easter. April is one of the nicest times to join – better weather, drier paths and a strong turnout. You can run, jog or walk, and it’s completely free once registered.
20/ Blossom spotting (throughout April)
April is peak blossom season in Tonbridge. It doesn’t last long, which makes it worth making the effort to get out for an evening walk when it’s at its best. You can find our guide to spitting the best blossom here.
21/ Foraging for wild garlic (throughout April)
If you’ve noticed the heady mix of garlic in Haysden, you’re not wrong – it’s wild garlic season. April is the perfect time to see the wild garlic, or take a chance to forage (responsibly) and use it at home in your cooking.
22/ Bluebell trails (late April)
Late April is when bluebells start to hit their peak across Kent. Woodland walks, vineyard trails and countryside paths all come into their own – especially towards the final two weeks of the month. Emmet’s Garden, close to Tonbridge, is “peak bluebell” but there are plenty of other places to spot them.
23/ Yoga day retreat with Candice (25th April)
A few months ago I attended an absolutely amazing yoga day retreat with Candice. Over three hours, I felt totally relaxed and learnt lots too. This month, Candice is hosting a yoga retreat for “renewal & energy reset.” These events take place in Chiddingstone, easily accessible from Tonbridge by car or train.

24/ Wild swimming opens up (3rd April)
Did you know that you can wild swim in Tonbridge? TriSwim host regular wild swimming events in Haysden Water. Unfortunately, they don’t start until May. But in the meantime, starting on the 3rd April you can join open water events in Penshurst Place. Glorious.
25/ Floating Paddle Soundbath at Tonbridge Pool (5th April)
Something a bit different at Tonbridge Swimming Pool on Saturday 5th April. This floating soundbath session, run by Paddle with Ana, combines paddleboarding with guided relaxation and sound therapy.
26/ Scrambled Leggs Running Club (8th April)
At 19:00 on 8th April, you can join a free running club event. This is a monthly event, involving a 5km run (beginners welcome) and ending at Fuggles Beer Cafe, where you can enjoy a free drink and the chance to socialise. It’s a lovely event and a welcoming group.
27/ Open Garden Event at Tonbridge School (16th April)
As part of the National Garden Scheme, Tonbridge School will be opening up their gardens to the public on the 16th April. You can visit between 09:00 and 15:30. There will also be refreshments and drinks available.
