The Tonbridge Lions Club has announced the return of its highly anticipated Community Fête and Parade, scheduled for Sunday, 26 July 2026. Hosted at Tonbridge School’s Upper Hundred, this year’s event centres on the theme Sport for All, aiming to showcase community spirit and the inclusive nature of athletics.
A Vibrant Parade Through the Heart of Town
The festivities will commence with a high-energy parade through the centre of Tonbridge, led by the renowned samba band Bloco Fogo. The organisers are inviting participants of all ages and backgrounds to join the procession. Whether representing a local school, a sports club, a charity, or simply participating as a family, everyone is encouraged to contribute to the spectacle.
Participants are invited to showcase their creativity by dressing as sporting heroes, representing their local teams, or highlighting their favourite physical activities. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Group Entry and the Best Individual Costume.
The logistics for the parade are as follows:
- Form-up: 11:30 am at River Walk.
- Departure: 12:00 pm, following the Bloco Fogo band.
- Route: From River Walk, across Big Bridge, along the High Street, and concluding at Tonbridge School.
Interactive Fête and Community Engagement
Following the parade, the Summer Fête will provide a platform for local organisations to engage with the public and promote healthy, active lifestyles. The event will feature a diverse array of entertainment and interactive opportunities, including:
- Sports Challenges: Interactive activities such as “Beat the Goalie,” netball shootouts, and fitness tests.
- Team Competitions: Fun group contests, including the return of the popular “Gutter Game.”
- Stalls: A variety of fundraising and promotional stalls hosted by local businesses and charities.
- Advertising: Opportunities for groups to feature in the official event programme, which reaches thousands of local residents.
